Jeevan Vigyan Australia Inc (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through jeevanvigyanau.org, why we collect it, how we look after it and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Who we are
Jeevan Vigyan Australia Inc is a not-for-profit organisation offering yoga, pranayam and meditation programs. You can contact us at jeevanvigyanaustralia@gmail.com or on 0424 749 975. Our postal address is Minto Post Office, 10 Brookfield Rd, Minto NSW 2566.
What we collect
We only collect information you give us, or that is created when you use our website:
- Program bookings: your name, email address, phone number, postal address, the number of places you book, any donation, and anything you choose to tell us in the notes field (for example dietary or health needs). You may also choose to give your education, age group, gender and profession; these are optional.
- Member accounts: your name, email address, mobile number and a password (stored in encrypted form, never in plain text). We send a one-time code to your email to confirm your account.
- Contact form: your name, email, phone, location and message.
- Donations: if you tell us about a bank transfer donation, your name, email and the amount.
- Payments: card, Link, Afterpay, Klarna and Zip payments are handled entirely by Stripe and those providers. We never see or store your full card number. We receive confirmation that you paid, the amount and a payment reference. For bank transfers we see the payment and reference on our bank statement.
- Technical information: like most websites, our host records basic technical details such as IP addresses for security. We count how many times the Zoom join buttons are clicked, but this count contains no names, IP addresses or other personal information.
Sensitive information
Health information (for example an injury, condition or dietary need you mention so we can support you safely) is sensitive information. We only collect it if you choose to give it to us, we use it only to help you take part safely, and we share it only with the facilitators and volunteers running your program.
How we use your information
- To process your booking or donation and confirm it by email.
- To run our programs safely, including planning catering, seating and any support you have asked for.
- To reply to your questions and messages.
- To manage your member account.
- To keep records required for our accounts and for our not-for-profit obligations.
- To tell you about future Jeevan Vigyan programs, only if you have booked with us or asked to hear from us. You can ask us to stop at any time.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with people and services that help us run our programs and website:
- Our organising committee and program volunteers, who need it to manage bookings and attendance.
- Stripe (and Afterpay, Klarna or Zip if you choose them), to process payments.
- Google (Gmail and Google Sheets), which we use to send booking emails and keep our list of bookings.
- Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that booking forms are filled in by a person and not a computer program.
- Porkbun, which hosts our website.
- Zoom, if you join our online sessions (Zoom handles your information under its own privacy policy).
Some of these providers store information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. We choose well-established providers that have their own strong privacy and security protections. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies that are needed for it to work, for example to keep you signed in to your member account and to protect our forms from spam. Stripe and Cloudflare may also set cookies when you pay or complete a booking form. We do not use advertising cookies.
How we protect your information
Our website uses a secure (https) connection. Access to bookings, member records and our email account is limited to authorised committee members and protected by passwords, and our email account uses two-step verification. We keep booking records for as long as we need them for our programs and accounts, and then delete them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it (unless we must keep it, for example for financial records). You can also ask us to stop sending you emails about future programs. Just email jeevanvigyanaustralia@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will do our best to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
